Ordinary Time is a significant and beautiful season within the Church, lasting more weeks than any other liturgical period. It features several important feast days, including Corpus Christi, the Assumption of Mary, All Saints Day, All Souls, and Christ the King. The name “Ordinary Time” comes from the word ‘ordinal,’ which means ‘numbered’—so this is essentially a period of ‘numbered time.’

Uniquely, Ordinary Time is celebrated in two parts: the first begins on the Monday following the Baptism of the Lord and continues until Ash Wednesday; it resumes after Pentecost and lasts until Advent. This season offers many opportunities to celebrate feast days throughout the Church year with joy.
